Dog Gone Hiking (Day 113)

Reinbeck, IA. This dog initally approached me barking and then just wanted to walk & play with me. She walked with me about half a mile, running, playing, digging, sniffing, and after almost causing a car accident I decided to bring him to a farm house I had spotted and so I left her with the nice lady that opened the door.

This is the fourth time this has happened where a dog decided it wanted to follow me on my journey. The lady tied the dog, and gave her some water & food. This wasn't my dog, but I slightly felt sad leaving her. The canine tried to follow me but couldn't so she just stared at me as I walked away.

I met Sterling tonight in the Adel Subway. I had seen him walking along Hwy. 6 between Waukee and Adel earlier that afternoon. One of the friendliest strangers I have met in a long time. My kids loved him and my 5 year old daughter will follow him on the web (hopefully at school after Spring Break).

Sterling - I think your journey is so cool on so many different levels, in the fight against diabetes and beyond. You'll be in my prayers and I look forward to following your journey here!

I met Sterling today at Casey's General Store in Redfield, Iowa. What an inspiring young man! I was speechless by the journey and proud to have briefly spoken with him. I didn't look nor ask the silly question, but, what brand of shoes are you wearing, Sterling? :) I would be motivated to rigorously prompt this company to donate for your cause.

Hey Heather, it was nice meeting you too!
LOL, I wear Northface boots, which are by the way very comfortable & lightweight. Contacting a couple of companies are in the works, so thanks for the reminder.
