I'm gonna bump up the mileage by 5 miles a day to 25 miles for the next 7 days. If I can do this then I'll be in Ohio in a week and a half. In order to accomplish this I will have to:
* Go to sleep earlier * Wake up earlier * Streamline my morning routine * Less sit down meals during the day * Walk longer hours * Finally of course walk faster Long Pond, PA. This my new awesome Polish friend Dorota. She is masseuse, reader, traveler, spiritualist, positive thinker, vegetarian, and the coolest "hippie" I know. If I ever do the Appilation Trail, she's the one I'm taking.
This is Rebecca and her wonderful kids who let me stay with them last night. Rebecca was a teacher and is now a stay at home mom who studies French, plays piano, and takes care of the kids. This family is tight knit with eduction as a priority. I really enjoyed helping Rebecca prepare dinner and eating with the family.
Here I am with Andrew (Long Pond, PA), who is the owner of a pizza oven maintenance company. Very gracious guy who travels the US and abroad fixing pizza ovens.
He even let me in on a little secret, the thing that separate NY pizza from the rest is the water. Some pizza owners have water brought from NY to their shop elsewhere in the country just to get that NY pizza taste.
Mileage: 20 (thought it was more)
Peaks: -Stayed the night at my new wonderful friend's house, Dorato, along with her great husband Andrew. It was quite a spiritual retreat! Dorota's "magic powers" had me feeling brand new, we need more positive beings in the world like her. I gained a lot in regards to spirituality that I will carry through my journey. -Met a very nice reverend who prayed for me and gave me a small book, whose title I'll give at some other time. -Offered quite a few rides today. Don't know why, but I politely declined them all. -Was given money at a CVS and also met the nicest cashier, Carolynn. -Pumpkin spice espresso. Valleys: -Walking in fog after dark. -Bear crossing my path. -Not arriving at Dorota's home earlier. |
